Nhan Dan Online – An exhibition entitled ‘Vietnamese Architecture in the Past and at Present’ opened at the 33 Art Gallery, Silom Street in the Thai capital Bangkok on February 11, marking the conclusion of Vietnamese Week in Thailand.
The one month exhibition displays more than 170 paintings by four Thai artists - Thirasak Wongcumnan, Somyos Kumsang, Suwit Jaipom and Direk Kingnok – and was inspired by their field trips to Vietnam. The paintings showcase the beauty of Vietnamese architecture and landscapes in three regions of the country. Internationally renowned sites depicted in the exhibition include Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, Ha Long Bay, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City. “The exhibition aims to introduce and promote the image of a beautiful, tranquil and friendly Vietnam to Thai friends,” said Vietnam’s Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang, at the opening ceremony. He also affirmed the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries after 35 years and praised co-operation and developments in a number of fields, including politics, business, trade and investment, culture, education and training, sports, tourism and defence. The exhibition, held jointly by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand and the 333 Art Gallery, will run until mid-March.
