Nhan Dan – A concert marking the 20th anniversary of Vietnam – Republic of Korea (RoK) diplomatic relations took place at the Grand Plaza hotel in Hanoi on February 6.
The concert, held jointly by the RoK Cultural Centre in Vietnam, the Concert World company and the Beauty Mind charitable organisation, brought together popular Korean artists and Blink, a five-member band with traditional musical instruments from the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM). The artists played classical masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms as well as Vietnamese melodies such as ‘Nho Ha Noi’ (Missing Hanoi) by composer Hoang Hiep and the folk song ‘Trong Com’ (Cylindrical Drum). The RoK artists also organised other cultural activities on the occasion, including a concert on February 5 for Korean people living and working in Vietnam, visiting the Son Tay Orphanage on February 6, and giving lectures and presenting 10 violins to outstanding students at the VNAM.
