The second Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) Forum on marine issues took place in Ho Chi Minh City on February 22.

Organised by the Vietnam Administration of Sea and Islands (VASI) and the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), the event attracted the participation of more than 40 Vietnamese and RoK experts and delegates from research agencies in the southern provinces.

The forum focused on sharing experience in maritime and ocean issues at national level and issues of common concern of the two countries, which relates to national marine strategy and policy, maritime environmental protection policy, coastal management, maritime tourism development, delineation of territorial waters and green economy development in Vietnam and RoK.

Nguyen Van Cu, General Director of VASI, said the forum is a practical activity to help the two countries’ scientists and managers reach expected goals of sea and islands management in each country.

At the event, participants discussed marine environmental management in Masan bay in the RoK and Ha Long Bay in Vietnam; development of marine resources (marine energy, oil and gas) and other issues.
