Vietnam to attend 3rd Mekong Youth Forum on Human Trafficking and Migration
Updated: 4:50PM (GMT+7), Fri, October 22, 2010

Nhan Dan Online - Five children from Vietnam will participate in the 3rd Mekong Youth Forum on Human Trafficking and Migration (MYF3) 2010 to be held in Thailand from October 24 - 30.

The week-long forum will gather 30 children and young people from the six Mekong countries: Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, who will discuss their own or family members' experiences of migration or trafficking. They were selected from national level youth forums held in the six countries between June and August 2010.

At the forum, participants will use creative arts to tell their stories or illustrate the situations of children in their countries who are vulnerable to trafficking. They will also present recommendations for combating trafficking and raising the awareness of more young people about human trafficking and migration.

The MYF3 also includes exhibitions, workshops, dialogues and arts performances to present and discuss child protection, preventing trafficking, and safe migration.

MYF is a regional event hosted by the government of Thailand and co-organised by the International Labour Organization (ILO), World Vision, Save the Children UK, and the UN Inter-agency Project on Human Trafficking (UNIAP). This year’s forum builds on the 2004 Mekong Children’s Forum and the Mekong Youth Forum 2007.
