Lanta Viet, the Vietnam affiliate of the dissolved Russian giant travel company Lanta Tour Voyage, has repaid nearly VND10 billion in debts to 17 resorts in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan, said an official on February 11.
Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of the provincial Tourism Association said that all 309 Russian tourists sent by Lanta Tour have safely left Binh Thuan for the home country. After the Lanta Tour Voyage ceased operations on January 27, many resorts in Mui Ne continued to accommodate the stranded tourists and create favourable conditions for them to soon return home, Khoa said. He added that the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism will join local travelling companies and hotels to participate in the Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition, the leading tourism event in Russia from March 21-24. Additionally, the tourism sector will host sports and cultural activities, as well as invite Russian news agencies and travelling operators to the locality to further promote Binh Thuan’s image to Russian tourists.
