Nhan Dan Online – Ho Chi Minh City Bridge and Ferry Construction Company Limited inaugurated the Thu Thiem inland terminal which was shifted from the old Thu Thiem ferry in District 1 on February 7.

The inland terminal was opened with the purpose of supporting tourism and transporting passengers and goods in the city. The new terminal will also preserve the historical values and landscape of the old Thu Thiem ferry to meet the demands of both domestic and foreign visitors.

In order to transport travelers, the tourism companies will invest in high-speed trains that can carry eight to twelve passengers.

During peak times, the old Thu Tiem ferry carried over 45,000 people per day.

After the Thu Thiem tunnel located under the Sai Gon River was completed, the 100-year-old ferry connecting districts 1 and 2 in Ho Chi Minh City officially stopped operating on January 1.
