Exports of plastic products up nearly 32%

Nhan Dan Online - Vietnam has earned an estimated US $345 million from exports of plastic products in the first five months of this year, up 31.9% compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In May alone, the figure is estimated at US $75 million, registering a year-on-year increase of 27%.

In May, prices of plastic materials such as PP, PVC and HDPE increased by US $30-50 a tonne compared to April and up 23-25% compared to the same period last year.

This has contributed to an increase of 10-30% in prices of plastic products such as schoolbags, raincoats and children's toys on the domestic market.

However, demands for these products still increased sharply as they are necessities and it is currently the height of annual consume purchases.
