Nhan Dan Online – The third
International Nuclear Power Exhibition will be opened in Hanoi
from May 14-17.
This year, the exhibition, themed
“Towards the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam,” will
attract the participation of the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA), the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), the
China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company (CGNPC), and
representatives from the Republic of Korea, Japan, Russia,
France and Vietnam.
According to Mr Vuong Huu Tan,
head of Vietnam’s Atomic Energy Institute, the exhibition is
aimed at providing the Vietnamese people with information on
nuclear power development trends as well as the achievements
of nuclear power industries in the world. Domestic policy
makers, managers and scientists will have a chance to get more
useful information for their studies in preparation for
construction of the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam.
Participants will feature their
capacity in designing, manufacturing, building, operating,
maintaining supplying fuel for nuclear power plants;
investment and construction efficiency, achievements in
ensuring safety for nuclear power plants; 3 and 3+ generation
nuclear power plants whose designs have been approved or
already been built and operated in the world.
Domestic companies have also
introduced their capacity in participating in the construction
of the first nuclear power plant project in Vietnam in
different stages.
Vietnam will organise an
international seminar on nuclear power, along with other
seminars by Japan, China and Canada.
The International Exhibition on
Nuclear Power is held every two years. The other two took
place on 2004 and 2006. The event is jointly organised by the
Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of
Industry and Trade.
Vietnam targets to build and put
into operation its first nuclear power plant, which has a
total capacity of 4,000MW, in 2020.
The National Assembly are
scheduled to approve the Atomic Energy Law this May to create
legal foundation for the implementation of this target. |
