Floating port for export of crude oil at Su Tu Vang oilfield opens

Nhan Dan Online - The Minister of Transport and Communications has announced the opening of a floating port to export crude oil from Lot 15-1 of the Su Tu Vang (Yellow Lion) oilfield, on Vietnam’s continental shelf, offshore the central province of Binh Thuan.

In the normal climatic conditions, the zone for arrival and departure of pilots and quarantine is the water area limited by a circle with a radius of one miles and the centre is positioned at the latitude of 10 degrees, 20 minutes North and the longitude of 108 degrees, 26 minutes, 4 seconds East. When the weather is bad, the water area is limited with an expanded circle with a radius of two miles and the centre is positioned at the latitude of 10 degrees, 49 minutes North and the longitude of 108 degrees, 17 minutes, 32 seconds East.

The floating port can accommodate ships of up to 150,000 DWT.

The safe area between the floating port of the Su Tu Vang oilfield and other works is two nautical miles, starting from the far edge of the works or the anchoring spot of floating means. Ships are prohibited from anchoring in this area if they are not allowed to do so. 

The Vung Tau port authorities are assigned to be responsible for carrying out State management the floating port.
