offers continued to increase sharply in the last trading
session of the week, thus, many listed stocks became
decliners this session. The indexes of both southern and
northern bourses dropped on July 18, after nearly of month
of impressive gains.
This has been the second
declining session since June 23. The other session was on
July 7 with a slight drop. Thus, during this period with 17
gaining and two declining sessions, the VN-Index increased
by a total of 116.98 points, quite impressively compared to
a long time of decreases earlier which brought the index
down to 370 points.
What was most impressive this
week was the busy trading activities in all five sessions of
the week, which saw over 99 million units of shares and fund
certificates successfully matched. Thus, on average, nearly
20 million units were traded in a session, a very high
volume.
The VN-Index closed the week
down 1.38% or 6.78 points at 483.05. There were 113 losers,
most of them hitting ceiling prices while only 24 gained out
of the 156 listed stocks allowed to trade on the southern
bourse.
The trading volume maintained at
an impressive level as nearly 26.9 million shares and fund
certificates were traded successfully via order matching for
VND 1.04 trillion. This is the second session this week
total trading value exceeded VND 1 trillion.
Of the top large-cap stocks,
five were in the list of losers: VNM, ITA, DPM, PVD and PPC
while three moved to the opposite direction: FPT, SSI and
HPG.
STB maintained its reference
price of VND 29,600 a share and was also the most traded
stock with more than 5.8 million units traded this session.
Other stocks in this list included DPM, over 4.5 million
units matched; HPG: nearly 1.9 million units and VTO: nearly
1.5 million units.
The situation on the northern
bourse was the same as the southern bourse as the HASTC-Index
also experienced a slight decrease after impressive gains.
The index closed the week at 149.68, down 0.9% or 1.36
points.
Trading was busy as more than
15.8 million units were matched for VND 536 billion.
