in the southern province of Kien Giang.

Nhan Dan - The Prime Minister has given his approval allowing the application of urgent and temporary administrative measures in controlling petrol trading and fighting against smuggling of petrol in the south-western border region, under an official document issued by the Governmental Office.

Accordingly, the Central Steering Committee on fighting smuggling, counterfeits and trade frauds acts as the key agency and co-ordinates with the Governmental Office to keep a close watch over the situation, give appropriate instructions and urge functional agencies and localities to strictly implement the Prime Minister's instruction on fighting against the smuggling of petrol. Reports should be made monthly to the Prime Minister.

For the immediate, new petrol stations are not allowed to be established in areas in the south-western border region. The Ministry of Security, the Ministry of Defence and the People's Committees of provinces in the region should open right away investigations to wipe out petrol smuggling rings along the land and sea border routes.
