Total industrial value of 14 northern localities to hit VND 49 trillion by 2010

Nhan Dan - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has set targets that by 2010, the total industrial value of the 14 northern mountainous and midland provinces will hit over VND 49 trillion and the average industrial value growth reaching 20.4% a year.

The targets were released at a meeting on industry and trade of the 14 localities organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Hoa Binh province on August 22.

Leaders of the ministry, leaders of the people's committees and the departments of industry and trade in 14 provinces of Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang participated in the meeting.

By 2010, the State-owned industrial sector is targeted to account for a proportion of 55%; the private sector, 32% and the foreign invested sector, 13%.

The GDP proportion of industry and construction in the regional economic structure will account for 33.76%.

To reach these targets, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will co-ordinate with relevant agencies and sectors to carry out policies to support industry and trade development in these 14 localities.
