Construction of biggest hydro-electric power plant in Kon Tum starts

Nhan Dan Online – The construction of the Thuong Kon Tum Hydro-electric Power Plant commenced in Dak Tang commune, KonPlong district, Kon Tum province on September 27.

The ground-breaking ceremony was held by the Vinh Son – Song Hinh Hydro-Electric Power Joint Stock Company.

The plant lies on the Dak Snghe river - a branch of the Dakbla river.

Upon completion by 2014, the over VND 5.7 trillion plant with a design capacity of 220 MW will generate 1.1 billion kWh of electricity a year.

Its turbine unit No.1 is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of 2013.

Apart from generating electricity to the national grid, the project also will add a considerable amount of water to the downstream of the Tra Khuc river, meeting the goals of the economic development and the improvement in the locals’ welfare in Quang Ngai province.
