An exhibition named ‘Journey from
heritage to modern time’ opened at the Hanoi Museum of
Ethnology April 4, 2006.
The exhibition features 120
ceramic items including 85 antiques dating back from the 11th
to 19th centuries. They are connected to modern life through
new ceramicware from Bat Trang and Chu Dau ceramic villages.
The items are displayed according
to 3 themes, including kitchenware, household ceramics and
worship ceramics. Old and new items are beautifully mingled
among the themes. The collections reflect the history of
Vietnam’s ceramicware, and its production methods.
This is the sixth time, collector
Pham Ngoc Dung exhibit the fruits of his 25 years of
collection. The exhibition aims to share the passion for
ceramics, to promote the traditional values of Vietnamese
handicraft villages and artisans, as well as proposing new
ways to revive the Vietnamese traditional methods of making
ceramics. |
