Vietnamese actress Do Hai Yen has been selected as one of seven promising Asian movie stars at a conference held recently in the Republic of Korea.

The conference, held within the framework of the Pusan International Film Festival slated for October 12-20 in the RoK, aimed to introduce Asia's movie industry to the world.

The others come from China (1), the Republic of Korea (2), Japan (2) and Taiwan (1).

Yen gained a reputation for her role as Phuong, the woman in the middle of a love triangle, in the internationally-hit "The Quiet American", which was directed by Phillip Noyce.

She won the Vietnam Cinematography Association's 2005 Golden Kite Award for best actress for her role in a film named ‘Chuyen Cua Pao’ (Pao's Story).

Two Vietnamese films, namely ‘Pao's Story’, and ‘Ao Lua Ha Dong’ (Ha Dong White Silk), will be screened at the festival. (VNA)
