Fashion show at
Sofitel Hotel kicks off
the France Spring Festival in Hanoi

fashion show named ‘Blue-White-Red’ held last night at the
Sofitel Hotel in Hanoi opened the France Spring Festival in
Hanoi.
Three Vietnamese young
designers, including Truong Anh Vu, Vu Thu Giang and Vu Viet
Ha introduced around 60 collections in three colour blue,
white and red, which are the colour of French national flag.
All three collections,
romantic and elegant ‘Blue’ of Anh Vu from Phuong Dong, with
decorations of Mong ethnic minority people’s brocade, pure
‘White’ of Viet Ha inspired from the Spring’s rain and
impressive ‘Red’ of Vu Thu Giang inspired from red persimmon,
are the combination of the Asian identity and classical but
modern European style.
The fashion show,
which was jointly organised by the Embassy of France, the
French Culture Centre – L’Espace, Vietnam Textile Corporation
(Vinatex) and the Sofitel Hotel, is one of the core activities
of the France Spring Festival.
The France Spring
Festival takes place from May 12 until June 30 with a large
range of activities such as drama, contemporary dance, cinema,
painting and music.

The film ‘Anthony
Zimmer’ will be screened during the event.
Addressing at a recent
press conference in Hanoi, Cultural Attaché Hubert Oilé,
director of the L’ Espace, said the first France Spring
Festival in Vietnam was the cultural exchange between Vietnam
and France through performance arts and exhibitions of
designers and artists aiming at creating a cultural space of
combined identities and a bridge between the tradition and
modernity, between east and west.
He also informed about
multi-media exposition ‘Moving Hanoi’; visual art and
illustration Loustal; and visual art, cartoon and video named
‘Faces of Hanoi’ from around May 15 to 30 at the L’Espace, 24
Trang Tien street and the Hanoi Fine Arts University, 42 Yet
Kieu, Hanoi.
An electronic music
performance Bumcello on May 29, contemporary dance and hip-hop
performance Pockemon Crew on June 2, contemporary dance Fable
of La Fontaine on June 13 and 14 and oriental electronic music
High Tone on June, all taking place at the Tuoi Tre (Youth)
Theatre at 11 Ngo Thi Nham street and particularly the Music
Festival at L’Espace on June 21 will introduce the latest
trend of music of France as well as prove the smooth
co-operation in art between Vietnamese and French artists.
Also under the
framework, typical French films will also be on screen at
L’Espace and the Vietnam Cinema Association at 51 Tran Hung
Dao street on June 23, 28, 29 and 30.
L’ Espace director
Hubert Oilé also announced that from now the France Spring
Festival will be organised once every two years, alternately
the year without Hue Festival celebration in which France has
been an important partner so far.
