Nhan Dan- The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism recently recognised Thang Long Citadel as national historical site.

The 18ha preservation area consists of the site at 18 Hoang Dieu street and Hanoi Old Citadel, covered by four streets: Hoang Dieu, Phan Dinh Phung, Nguyen Tri Phuong and Dien Bien Phu.

A ceremony to receive the certification will be held early next month.

This is as one of the criteria necessary for the submission to UNESCO for recognition as the world heritage by early 2009.
