Hanoi road workers discover ancient structure

A roadwork unit discovered an ancient structure thought to be 800 years old beneath a road under construction in Hanoi.

A People’s Committee – local government – source said Tuesday it was found under the Kim Lien-O Cho Dua road in Dong Da District.

The city authorities have invited top archeologists to study the site and they have discovered an ancient brick foundation, yard, walls, glasses, and porcelains.

The archeologists suspect the structure was an altar built during the Tran Dynasty (1225-1400) to pray against disasters and for good crops.
