Vietnam Fine Arts Association’s prize awarded

Nhan Dan Online- Five art works, selected from over 1,500 works by 1,400 artists nationwide, were presented with the highest prize of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.

Five same prizes were given to gouache illustration ‘Dam Cuoi Chuot’ (Mice’s Weeding) by Ngo Manh Lan from Hanoi, stone sculpture ‘Dem Tro Gio” (Windy Night) by  Nguyen Luu from Vinh Phuc province, aluminium curving ‘Nam Com – Ong Ke’ (Cooked Rice Pressed into a Ball – Mr Ke) by Nguyen Van Thang from Ho Chi Minh City; mixed medium ‘Khuc Ngau Hung’ (Impromptu) by Luong Thien Duc from Hue province and iron welding ‘Hanh Phuc”’ (Happiness) by Luong Van Viet from Hanoi.

According to Painter Tran Khanh Chuong, president of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association the quality of the works from different regions are quite equal and most of the entries were from middle aged and young artists.

On the quality of the works, painter Tran Khanh Chuong held that “ Though many artists feature the identity of their own region through their works, there are only a few special paintings. Some of them still follow the same way of creation.”

Earlier, nine exhibitions of different regions have been organised. Seventy seven works have been presented with prizes.

Paintings are now on display at Gallery 16 Ngo Quyen, Hanoi.
