Lang Co
Bay
Lang Co Bay
in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has become the
30th member of the “World’s Most Beautiful Bays” club (Worldbays
Club) at a ceremony, which was held within the framework of
the club’s 5th conference in Setubal, Portugal, from May
15-17.
Vietnamese
Ambassador to France and Portugal, Le Kinh Tai, and Vice
Chairman of Thua Thien- Hue provincial People’s Committee,
Ngo Hoa, received the club’s membership certificate granted
by its President, Jerome Bignon.
Ambassador
Tai expressed thanks to the club for recognition,
considering this a great honour to Thua Thien-Hue province
in particular and Vietnam in general, and describing this as
an important event in the country’s Cultural Diplomacy Year
2009. He stressed that joining the organisation would help
promote the image of the Vietnamese people and land on the
one hand and lure more visitors to the province on the other
hand.
He said Thua
Thien-Hue province has set up overall and detailed plans on
socio-economic development in the Chan May-Lang Co area,
which were approved by the Prime Minister. The ambassador
pledged that Vietnam would do its best to develop values of
Lang Co in particular and of the country’s heritages, in
general.
Lang Co is
Vietnam’s third bay after Ha Long Bay and Nha Trang Bay were
admitted to the club.
According to
the club’s General Secretary Bruno Borda, Lang Co bay was
selected as it still maintained natural beauty and was
almost intact. Lying between Da Nang and Hue cities, Lang Co
bay, Hai Van pass, Bach Ma Nature Reserve and the ancient
fishing village attracted people with a wonderfully
harmonious combination between people and nature.
The club’s
annual conference 2010 is scheduled to be held in the
northern province of Quang Ninh, which has the world
heritage of Ha Long Bay. (VNA) |
