Hanoi Cheo Theatre performs for tourists

Cheo (popular opera) performance

Nhan Dan Online – The Hanoi Cheo Theatre launched a new arts performance programme for tourists entitled ‘Spring Festival’.

The theatre will offer tourists three shows a week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from July 30 at No. 15 Nguyen Dinh Chieu street in Hanoi.

The shows will feature a variety of Vietnamese folk music, such as Cheo (popular opera), Ca Tru (ceremonial songs) and folk songs and dances.

Before the shows, a brochure in both Vietnamese and English will be given to the audiences to provide them with information about the history of Vietnamese traditional arts.

The shows aim to help audiences, particularly foreign visitors, better understand the lifestyle, spiritual life and aspirations of Vietnamese people in the old days.

The programme, held jointly by the Hanoi Cheo Theatre and the Tourism Promotion Information Centre, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is part of the National Tourism Year 2010 to attract more visitors to Hanoi.
