Nhan Dan - On August 19, 1945,
Hanoi seized power; on August 25, Bao Dai, the last
Vietnamese feudal king, abdicated the throne in Hue; also on
August 25, President Ho Chi Minh arrived in Hanoi. Saigon
seized power on that same day. President Ho Chi Minh was
prompted to write the Declaration of Independence and set
September 2, 1945 as the day he would deliver his address. |
