The Party's Committee and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held on January 1 a meeting to praise five "outstanding young citizens" and 20 excellent young people and teenagers.

The meeting was attended by Le Thanh Hai, politburo member and secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party's Committee and Vo Van Thuong, alternative member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Permanent Secretary of the Youth Union Central Committee and others.

These young people who are excellent in their study and work have made achievements in labour, social activities and in assisting other people. They are selected from grassroots institutions representing for the city's young people, who are making active contributions to the city's development in the past years.

At the meeting, young people expressed that with their youth, intelligence and  enthusiasm, they would make great contributions and hoped that the city's leadership would create conditions for their contributions.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Le Thanh Hai praised these youth in particular and young people of the country in general. He also said that sectors and organisations should carry out regular selection of their excellent figures, serving as examples for others to follow.
