Vietnam’s largest blood bank opens in Ho Chi Minh

The Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City launched its blood bank on February 2.

With its capacity of processing and storing up to 300,000 units of blood a year, the Ho Chi Minh City blood bank becomes the largest of its kind in Vietnam.

Equipped with cutting-edge facilities and run by specialists and staffers trained in the US, Belgium, France and Singapore, the Ho Chi Minh City blood bank can also process and preserve samples of 10,000 umbilical cords.

The six-storey building occupying a land area of 4,200 sq. m was built at the cost of VND 89.6 billion. (VNA)
