Golf tournament raises VND 500 million for study encouragement

Nhan Dan Online - The annual charity golf tournament entitled "Swing for the Kids" recently organised by the Vietnam Investment Review (VIR) newspaper has raised VND 500 million for poor students.

The money will be sent to the Fund for Study Encouragement and will be used to present scholarships for outstanding students, and upgrading schools. About VND 200 million of which will be used to provide support for difficult students, who are affected by natural disasters.

One hundred and fifty golfers, who are diplomats and officials from localities and agencies, competed at the event.

Editor in chief of the VIR Nguyen Anh Tuan said this year's golf tournament attracted more competitors, showing their attention to the study encouragement.

The first 'Swing for the kids' golf tournament was held in 2007 and raised VND 400 million to provide scholarships for 656 poor students in 13 provinces and cities, and five universities.
