Acute diarrhoea cases fall, yet risk remains high

Nhan Dan - The number of people infected with acute diarrhoea has dropped sharply, but the risk of future outbreaks remains high, warned the Department of Preventive Medicine.

Dr Nguyen Huy Nga, head of the Department of Preventive Medicine on May 4, announced that the number of people suffering from acute diarrhoea had dropped sharply. There have been some people hospitalised due to the disease, while no new cases tested positive for cholera have been reported in recent days.

However, there is still a high risk of the disease's reoccurring due to travelling from one locality to another by people, carrying the cholera bacteria.

The Ministry of Public Health is reported yet to announce the end of the epidemic, fearing that the cholera bacteria have been in Vietnam and the disease is scattered in different localities.
