Nhan Dan – Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh,
Da Nang, Hanoi and Hai Phong cities were selected to
implement the pilot programme on teaching English to third
graders for the 2010 – 2011 school year.
The decision was announced at a
conference in Hai Phong on December 5 chaired by Deputy
Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen
Thien Nhan.
Addressing at the conference,
Deputy PM stressed that five big cities should take the
initiative in enhancing education and training quality,
building educational infrastructure and universalising
education. He also praised the educational sector of five
cities for actively implementing such campaigns and
emulation movements as ‘Two Nos’, ‘Each teacher is a role
model in morality, self-studying and creativeness’,
‘Building friendly school, active student’, ‘Learn and
follow President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals’. These
campaigns have brought about good results as raising money
for poor students, planting trees, building toilets at
schools and others.
At the conference, five cities
signed a mutual agreement to emulate each other in the
2009-2010 school year, focusing on management reform,
information exchange between localities and improvement of
teacher’s teaching quality so as to enhance educational
quality in general.
Leaders of the Department of
Education and Training from five cities also raised their
ideas on organising the final exams of
senior secondary schools and students’ enrollment to
universities and colleges. |
