Construction of the first private
hospital for mothers and children invested by a family of
Vietnamese nationals in Laos started on March 6 in
Vientiane.
Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister Asanglaoly, Health Minister
Ponmet Dalaloi, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment
Thongmivongvixay, President of the Vietnamese Association in
Laos Hoang Dieu, President of the Co-operation and
Investment Business Association in Laos Hoang Cung Thuong
Nhan and other senior officials attended the inaugural
ceremony.
Addressing the event, Ponmet Dalaloi spoke highly of the
hospital’s significance, saying that the project not only
creates favourable conditions for treatments but also helps
reduce the mortality rate in Lao children. He expressed his
hope that more private hospitals will be built in his
country.
Covering an area of 12,550 sq.m, the seven-storey hospital
will accommodate 120 beds, waiting rooms and basements
equipped with modern facilities.
Construction of the US$3.8 million project, funded by the
couple Dang Tien Thanh and Bien Thi Ki, is expected to be
completed within 18 months. (VNA) |
