42 cases died of food poisoning in first half

Nhan Dan Online – As of June 17, there were 90 food poisoning cases nationwide with a total number of people suffered put at 2,470, including 42 fatality cases, said the Food Safety and Hygiene Department.

The reasons are mainly microorganism, plant protection chemicals and poisonous food.

In June alone, there were 16 cases of food poisoning in the whole country with 286 patients, in which 254 people were hospitalised.

Out of three fatality cases in June, there were two cases died of eating mouldy corn powder in Ha Giang and one case died of eating globefish in An Giang.

The Centres for Preventive Medicine of 13 provinces and cities where the cases of food poisoning occurred have tested the food samples.

These provinces and cities are Hai Duong, Quang Ngai, Ha Giang, Loang An, Vinh Phuc, Quang Tri, Binh Thuan, Bac Lieu, An Giang, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Hung Yen and Tra Vinh.
