Gift presented to AO

Association of the Agent Organe (AO) Victims has held a
conference to praise over 200 outstanding dioxin/AO victims
who have not resigned themselves to their disadvantaged
fate, striving to better themselves in their lives, winning
over the AO-related diseases and taking an active part in
social work and development of household economy and making
a contribution to poverty reduction and hunger elimination,
thus wining the people’s trust and love.
On this occasion, a lot of
organisations and individuals in the province supported VND
180 million in total to look after and help the dioxin/AO
victims.
* On the evening of August 9, in
Kon Tum city, the Kon Tum provincial Association of the AO
Victims in co-ordination with the provincial Journalists’
Association held a exchange night themed ‘Common Sense and
Responsibility’ with the aim of continuing to call on the
charity organisations and kind-hearted individuals to share
with the AO victims in the province.
* Arts exchange programmes have
also been organised in Hai Duong and Can Tho provinces to
raise funds for the AO victims.
The associations of the AO
victims at all levels in Lang Son province have raised money
and presented over 123,000 gifts worth over VND 3.5 billion
for the AO victims the province.
From August 4 – 9, the Dong Nai
provincial Association of the AO Victims in co-ordination
with the offices of labour, war invalids and social affairs
of districts, towns and citites in the province presented
over 1,000 gifts to the dioxin/AO victims.
* The Quang Ngai provincial
Association of the Dioxin/AO Victims sent its missions to
visit and present gifts to seven families of the AO victims
in extreme difficulties in Mo Duc and Duc Pho districts.
In addition, the association has
helped build 33 ‘great national unity’ houses for the AO
victims with a total value of VND 530 million funded by
kind-hearted enterprises, organisations and individuals.
Currently, there remains over
17,000 AO victims in 13 districts and cities in the
province, including over 1,800 children with inborn
deformities. |
