Hanoi hospital brings smile to Lao patients

Vietnamese doctors have performed free surgeries on patients with harelips, cleft palate and congenital deformities in Vientiane, Laos, from May 8 to 10.

Nearly 80 patients, of whom 30 suffer from harelips and cleft palate, were beneficiaries, according to the doctors, who are from the Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Hospital located in Hanoi.

The youngest patient is six years old while the oldest is 60.

This was the seventh humanitarian mission undertaken by Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Hospital doctors to Vientiane, and they have so far fixed harelips and cleft palate for 360 patients.

The hospital has also provided training in Ha Noi for doctors from Vientiane. (VNA)
