Bird flu outbreaks in Long An province

Nhan Dan - Bird flu outbroke in Long An province, announced the Department of Veterinary on May 12.

Two hundred ducks died in village 4, Tan Tay commune, Thach Hoa district on May 1.

Ninety dead ducks were also found in Tan Binh commune, Tan Thach district on May 2.

The samples of the dead ducks were tested positive for bird flu virus H5N1.

All the remaining ducks have been culled.

The local veterinary service said about a high risk of bird flu outbreaks. Long An province now has 300,000 ducks, that travel from Dong Thap, AN Giang, Vinh Long and Hau Giang.

So far, five provinces, including Son La, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Tra Vinh and Long An have yet to be free from bird flu for 21 days.
