120  poor students receive IT scholarships

One hundred and twenty poor and disabled students will get information technology scholarships sponsored by the UK-based Prudential Insurance Corporation’s Prudence Fund.

Each scholarship is worth US$2,400. These students, who graduated from secondary schools with good grades but lack the finance to continue their studies at university, will be trained at Aptech Vietnam for two years.

Human resources in information technology is in need in Vietnam at this moment so the Prudence Fund decided to help students get trained in this field,” said Nguyen Van Hao, deputy general director of Prudential Vietnam.

The applicants for these scholarships must pass an exam of mathematics and English, and an interview.

The 35 first IT scholarships will be granted to students in Hanoi, Haiphong and Thanh Hoa provinces.

After finishing the two-year training programme, these students will have permanent jobs in the FPT corporation or other companies.
