- Len Aldis, secretary of the Britain-Vietnam Friendship
Society, has made another move in his tireless efforts in
support of Vietnamese Agent Orange victims. In a recently
completed video, he calls for stronger help from people around
the world to campaign for justice for the Vietnamese victims.
The 4-minute
video clip entitled “The Horror of Agent Orange: WARNING:
Disturbing Images,” has been viewed by over 2,380 people as of
July 17 at
http://www.friction.tv/debate.php?debateno=672.
Aldis points to
the fact that the effects of Agent Orange used by the American
forces in Vietnam have gone into the third generation.
He stresses that
“this crime of using chemicals, particularly Agent Orange in
Vietnam, has to be answered for Monsanto Dow Chemicals and the
other companies and the American government have to accept
their responsibility.”
After a week,
the video clip has attracted the concern of many people from
different countries, including Americans. They have expressed
their admiration at Len’s tireless activities and shared the
same view that “justice must belong to the victims of Agent
Orange.”
Hereunder are
some of the responses.
“Full of
admiration for your incredible energy over a period of years
in bringing this shameful issue of Agent Orange to the
attention of the world,” said Phil Sedler.

“Thankfully, there are others who fight tirelessly to bring
the awful truth to the worlds attention. Len's efforts and
commitment have changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of
Vietnamese - and yet there is still so much more to be done.
The US must offer compensation for the damage they have caused
- not only to the people but also to the environment which
still harbours dioxin and which will still bring damage to the
Vietnamese people for generations to come. They must correct
the wrongs that they have inflicted. It is their moral
responsibility.”

“It was a pleasure to watch Mr Aldis speak with all the
passion and commitment. After listening to Mr. Aldis speak I
know it won't be long before it reaches a million people
world-wide who can not be ignored. Justice for the Victims of
Agent Orange!”

“This is an important video, this has been neglected
internationally for far too long. The companies concerned and
the US government must compensate the victims of Agent Orange
and their descendents and offer medical support, they must
also restore the damaged land, they must take responsibility
for their actions.”
Marih Alyn-Claire
says “I was a teenager when the war in Vietnam started. I am
sorry for the cruelty and inhumanity of the American leaders
and businesses who profited and continue to profit from other
people's death and suffering.”

“I am a Vietnam Vet and watching this video makes me ashamed
of my country. I will ask everyone I know to sign the Agent
Orange Petition. People are more important than money. Justice
for the Victims of Agent Orange!”

“The US government must take responsibility for having waged
illegal chemical warfare. We must act now to support and join
the efforts of our Vietnamese brothers and sisters to hold
these companies and the US government responsible. If we do
not, white phosphorus and depleted uranium will continue to
rain on civilian populations in other areas of the world.”

“This small film is a chilling indictment of the United States
of America and shows how little they care about humanity. Mr
Aldis deserves a lot of credit for his battle to fight for
Justice for the Victims of Agent Orange.”

“The three judges are now deciding their ruling, when
it will be announced we do not know. It could be months even
into next year. Meanwhile, as we have seen with the death of
Mr Quy, many hundreds will die and many new victims will be
born.”

“We all owe it to the Victims of Agent Orange to sign the
Agent Orange Petition and circulate the Petition link as
widely as possible. It's inconceivable to think that the Dow
Chemical Company and Monsanto might get away with this crime
against humanity. These poor Victims of Agent Orange will
suffer every day until they die and it's not right and it's
not fair and it can't be allowed to happen. The entire world
needs to know the truth about Agent Orange.”
Thomas Metcalf
and Art Connolly from the Agent Orange Association of Canada
say “Very good video about a great injustice. The chemical
companies and the government must be held accountable. Thank
you for your courage and determination to find justice for the
victims of Agent Orange. Your work is known throughout the
world.”

“This is a very good video, Mr Aldis. I have signed the Agent
Orange petition and have asked all my friends to sign. We from
Vietnam know your good work and thank you so very much from
our hearts.”
Anonymous says
“The management of Dow or Monsanto should be ashamed in
refusing to acknowledge their guilt or to pay the innocent
victims of Agent Orange. The USA always paints the picture of
taking the moral high ground but the Agent Orange Genocide in
Vietnam is proof again US Imperialism is alive.”
Anonymous says
“We need to do something, first of all to acknowledge it and
more and more people should know consequences of AGENT ORANGE,
so that we have bigger voice.”
Anonymous says
“Congratulations to Len Aldis: this tragedy needs to be made
as public as possible.”

“The chemical companies must be forced to law to pay
compensation to the Vietnamese people. Looking at the terrible
birth defects that people in Vietnam are still suffering makes
me so angry. We the people of the United States must insist
our government pay compensation to these poor innocent
victims. No one should have to suffer their entire lives as
the Agent Orange victims are. Have all your friends sign the
Agent Orange Petition.”
Mark Shapiro
says: “Len's tireless campaigning for over a decade in
bringing the horror of Agent Orange to the attention of the
world is nothing short of amazing. I hope soon a million
people will have signed the Agent Orange Petition and
compensation will be paid to the victims of this horrible
Weapon of Mass Destruction. It's time for the world to stand
up to the USA in the memory of the millions of Vietnamese
killed and the untold millions still suffering from the deadly
effects of Agent Orange.
Mr Len Aldis is
also the author of the petition
(http://www.petitiononline.com/AOVN/petition.html)
which has been signed by over 706,000 people around the world.
“They
manufactured it and the government used it. They must answer
in the court with the jury for the crime they have committed,”
Mr Len Aldis concludes, adding that “With your help, we can
bring justice to the victims.” |
