Overseas Vietnamese contribute ideas for Party’s political report

The Committee on Overseas Vietnamese, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference in Hanoi recently to collect Overseas Vietnamese’s opinions for the political report which will be presented at the up-coming tenth Party national congress.

Participants at the conference included Tran Quang Hoan, vice director of the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese and representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Liason Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Foreign Countries and Overseas Vietnamese’ Associations in the UK, Canada, the UK, France, German, etc.

Opinions at the conference underlined that the collection of opinions from Overseas Vietnamese by the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese showed the democratic spirit and belief of the Party toward Overseas Vietnamese. Most of their opinions centred on the issue of “Overseas Vietnamese settled in foreign countries”. Participants said that the content on the Overseas Vietnamese mentioned in the draft report was correct and clear, encouraging Overseas Vietnamese to bring into play the strength in the national unity bloc to make contributions to the national construction. Some also said that the characteristic nature of Overseas Vietnamese should be added before the specific points including the Party’s viewpoints on the relations, position and role of Overseas Vietnamese, the Party and State’s line and policies, etc. Other said that in addition to the intellectual potentials, Overseas Vietnamese also have potentials in economics, technology and management, etc. Others also requested for more open and transparent policies for Overseas Vietnamese.
