Possible outbreak of blue ear disease in the south warned

Nhan Dan - Possible outbreaks of blue ear disease (porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome) in the south has been warned about.

At a meeting of the National Steering Board on June 24 in Hanoi, Bui Quang Anh, head of the Veterinary Department said that northern and central provinces have initially controlled the disease. However, the disease occurred in Hoa My village, My Xuan town, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province, not to mention Bac Lieu province, where the epidemic is yet to be controlled completely.

This has threatened other Mekong delta and south-eastern localities.

At the meeting, Bui Ba Bong, deputy minister of agriculture and rural development, asked localities to follow the developments of the disease, so as to prevent possible outbreaks of the disease in the south.

On June 23, the minister of agriculture and rural development sent a message, providing guidance for localities in the Mekong delta and the southeastern region to prevent and control the disease.
