Nhan Dan – The Ministry of Education and Training announced that 2,192,312 had registered to take university and college entrance examinations in the 2008-2008 academic year, increase of 18% over last year’s figure.

Ho Chi Minh City had the highest increase in the registration number, up by 200% against last year.

The figure was put at 55% for Hanoi, 25.1% for the Vinh examination organisation complex in Nghe An, 21% for Can Tho city and 19.1% for the Quy Nhon examination organisation complex.

The number of registration for university entrance exams was put at over 1.575 million.

Prior to the exams, the education and training service has provided guidelines on the organisation of safe and serious examination season. Universities and colleges should make good preparations for the exams.

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training sent its working groups to Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Quy Nhon to review the preparatory work of the localities.

The Government has sent a message to leaders of ministries, agencies and localities, asking them to organise safe and serious examinations.
