Vietnam, Laos work on legislative co-operation

The visiting Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Committee for External Affairs, Nguyen Van Son, held talks with his Lao counterpart Saysomphone Phomvihane, in Vientiane on September 27.

The two sides spoke highly of the increasing position of each country in the region and the world at large and expressed their delight at the development of the cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries as well as the two National Assembly Committees for External Affairs.

They agreed to speed up the implementation of cooperative programmes which were signed between the NA chairmen of the two countries and to contribute to increasing exchange of visits and boosting cooperation between the two legislative bodies.

The two sides pledged to continue to cooperate at regional and international forums as well as strive for each country’s national construction and defence.

Both host and guest expressed their determination to effectively execute an agreement signed between the two National Assemblies on April 23, 2007 and supervise the implementation of cooperative agreements reached between the Parties, States and NAs of the two countries.

While in Laos from September 27-30, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to meet leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly and government of Laos. (VNA)
