Joys of inmates enjoying amnesty

Many prisons nationwide announced on August 29 the decision signed by the State President to grant amnesty to prisoners who have satisfied conditions for release on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the National Day, September 2.

It seemed more busy in Ngoc Ly detaining camp in Ngoc Ly commune, Tan Yen district of Bac Giang province on August 29. Lieutenant general Le The Tiem, vice minister of public security and standing member of the Central Council for Amnesty Consultation was present at the detaining camp early in the morning to supervise the deployment of the decision. According to Nguyen Ba San, chief warder of the detaining camp, in this amnesty, 103 inmates of the camp have satisfied conditions for amnesty.

Mr Nguyen Dinh Van from Mong Cai of Quang Ninh province, whose wife is prisoner Le Thi Tuyet, said with emotion that the joy was not only a result of his wife's serious re-education, but also thanked to the lenient policies of the Party and States, thus helping make his early family re-union earlier than schedule.

In the afternoon August 29, there were many relatives of 37 inmates of the Tan Lap detaining camp in Vo Tranh commune, Ha Hoa district, Phu Tho province, who were given pardon this time. In front of the gate of the camp, a bus stopped to take these inmates to their families.

On the occasion, 39 inmates of Thanh Xuan detaining camp, under the public security ministry, was pardoned. On behalf of other pardonees,  Vuong Song Tu from Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, who had been sentenced 15 years in prison for using forged money, expressed her gratitude to the Party, State and the camp's warders for their kindness during his sentence-serving period there. She promised to be a good citizen when she returns home.

Xuan Loc detaining camp in Dong Nai also announced the decision to grant amnesty to prisoners on August 29. The camp has 85 inmates enjoying pardon this time. Nguyen Quyet Tien, one of the pardonees this time, said that "Firstly, I am grateful to the Party, State and warders of the Xuan Loc Cam, who have helped me understand the lenient policies of the Party and State and show me my mistakes and encourage me to correct the mistakes to have this joyful day."

As many as 178 inmates of Thu Duc detaining camp, including four foreign prisoners, enjoy amnesty this time. The joys have not only come from the pardonees themselves but also from their relatives. Ms Nguyen Thi Bay from Phan Thiet, who came to the camp to receive her nephew Nguyen Van Long, said that her family was so happy that the previous night, her family could not sleep.

On the occasion, two detaining camps of Hanoi police gave amnesty to 265 prisoners. According to colonel Do Kim Tuyen, vice director of Hanoi police's service, the selection of inmates for pardons have always conducted in a democratic and fair manner.
