A workshop relating to Agent
Orange/dioxin sprayed by the US army in Vietnam during the
war was held at the Bourgogne Council headquarter, Dijon,
France, in order to call on support for the on-going
struggle for justice of Vietnamese war victims.
The workshop, themed “Conflicts
and environment: from ecological destruction to justice for
environment’, was organised on September 26 by the Vietnam
Friendship Village Committee with the support of the
Bourgogne Council, the French war veterans’ association (ARAC)
and the Bourgogne University.
Doctor Jean Meynard, Vice
President of the Vietnamese dioxin children association,
presented participants with a general view on consequences
of the toxic substance sprayed by the US armed forces during
the war in southern Vietnam, and photos about paints of
families.
Other speaker, Claude Pinon,
Vice President of the Bourgonne region, said that Vietnam
still suffers harmful effects of Agent Orange on the people
and environment in the aftermath of the war. Many people
were born with deformity and suffered dangerous diseases.
Earlier, the ARAC opened a photo
exhibition on Vietnamese Agent Orange /dioxin victims at the
Bourgonne Council headquarter from September 25. (VNA) |
