A leading
Australian government official said his country attaches
importance to long-term and multifaceted co-operation with
Vietnam, particularly in economics, trade, science,
education and human resources training.
Australian
Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephen Smith made the
statement during his meeting with Party General Secretary
Nong Duc Manh in Hanoi on July 2.
The visiting
minister spoke highly of the achievements the Vietnamese
people have made during their country’s renovation and
international integration.
He expressed
his belief that the Vietnamese people will record more and
greater achievements during the industrialisation,
modernisation and national construction and development
process.
General
Secretary Manh appreciated the Australian minister’s visit,
which was made at a time when Vietnam and Australia are
celebrating the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
The party
leader affirmed Vietnam's policy of placing importance on
relations with Australia. He also said he believed that the
friendship and multifaceted co-operation between the two
countries would be c ontinually strengthened. (VNA) |
