Curbing inflation still top priority of the Government

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said on July 2 that curbing inflation, stabilising the macro economy and ensuring social welfare and sustainable development continue to be the Government’s major tasks in the second half of the year.

Top priority will be given to curbing inflation, the PM said.

The Government leader stressed the need to further implement strict and flexible financial and monetary policies, regulate the exchange rate in line with the market demand, boost production and service development, attract more investment and reduce budget spending.

He urged the execution of policies to assist poor households and help flood-prone areas in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

He requested media agencies to exert more efforts to popularise the Party and the State’s current socio-economic policies and solutions to local and foreign investors

On the second day of its meeting, the Government also heard and discussed other issues, including a scheme on financial reform in education and training in Vietnam in the 2008-2012 period. (VNA)
