Vietnamese National Assembly
Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong on July 2 received a delegation of
the Foreign Relations Committee of the Senate of Pakistan,
led by its chairman, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed.
At the reception, NA Chairman
Trong suggested the two countries’ committees for foreign
relations to design a plan to boost bilateral co-operation.
He pledged the Vietnamese side
would do its utmost to fortify the ties between the two
legislative bodies and the two countries.
“Vietnam and Pakistan share many
similarities and have potential and advantages to complement
each other,” said Chairman Trong, adding that he wished to
see development in bilateral economic, trade and investment
ties.
Senator Sayed briefed the NA
Chairman of his talks with his Vietnamese counterpart,
saying the two sides have agreed upon concrete measures to
enhance the ties between the two legislative agencies and
co-ordinate at regional and international forums,
particularly the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
He also expressed his deep
concern on Vietnam's orientation towards renovation,
integration and development; the functions, tasks and rights
of the Vietnamese NA; and the role of women in the country’s
political, economic and social life.
Earlier, Senator Sayed and his
entourage were received by Vice State President Nguyen Thi
Doan. (VNA) |
