Many activities have been
organised by overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese
Embassies in foreign countries to mark the country’s 63rd
National Day, September 2.
In Russia, Ambassador Bui Dinh
Dinh together with officials from Vietnamese organisations
and Russian friends attended an incense offering at
President Ho Chi Minh’s Monument in Moscow on September 2.
In afternoon, Ambassador Dinh
held a banquet and his guests included Russian Deputy
Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov, representatives of
Russian administrative agencies, Vietnamese businesses and
students in Moscow.
Various activities to mark the
event were also held in other Russian cities.
On the occasion, Ambassador to
the Republic of Korea (RoK) Pham Tien Van gave an interview
to the Korea Post newspaper and the Korea Economic Report,
emphasising the significance and progresses of the Vietnam-RoK
relationship since the two countries established diplomatic
ties 16 years ago.
Ambassador Van underlined the
need to deepen and realise the two countries’ comprehensive
partnership in the 21st century.
The Embassy is coordinating with
the RoK’s National Museum to open an exhibition of
Vietnamese culture on September 5. A troupe from the Thang
Long Puppetry Theatre will be financed by the RoK’s Hana
Group to have a performance at the exhibition’s launch.
The troupe will stay for a week
to give performances to families of Vietnamese women who got
married with Korean men. The number of the women has reached
25,000.
The event is considered as a
useful activity to help the two countries’ people to learn
their culture and custom.
On September 2, Vietnamese
Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Van That held a banquet to
mark the National Day and the 35th anniversary of the two
countries’ diplomatic ties.
Ambassador That reviewed the
development of the two countries’ relations over the past 35
years, which saw progresses particularly in the
economic-trade field. The two-way trade over the recent
years recorded an annual growth rate of 20%, and is expected
to reach US$100 million this year.
The Vietnamese Embassy in
coordination with Bangladeshi travel agencies organised a
display of embroidery paintings of Vietnam’s landscapes and
people.
Also on the occasion, the
Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba in coordination with Cuban
Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and the
Cuban Arts and Literature Publishing House introduced to
public a Vietnamese literature collection in Spanish.
The 200-page collection, titled
'The Watchmaker of Dien Bien Phu,' included 14 short stories
of Vietnamese well-known writers.
The same day, ICAP and the
Vietnamese Embassy organised an exhibition of Vietnam’s
traditional fine arts and handicraft items such as
embroidery and lacquer paintings, pottery and ceramic
products, and ao dai (long dress).
