Over 400 delegates representing people from all walk of lives of Vietnam and
Cambodia gathered in Ho Chi Minh City on October 2 for a friendship and
co-operation meeting.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Vu Mao, Chairman of the Vietnamese National
Assembly Committee for External Relations and Head of the Vietnam-Cambodia
Friendship Association highlighted the important role the meeting would play in
enhancing the friendship and co-operation between the people of Vietnam and
Cambodia in the new period for the development of the friendship and
comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.
Min Khin, Vice President and Secretary General of the National Council of the
Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland took the
occasion to express sympathy with the Vietnamese people over the losses in life
and property caused by Typhoon Xangsane.
The meeting received messages of greetings from Vietnamese Prime Minister
Nguyen Tan Dung and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hunsen. The two PMs spoke
highly of the meeting and wished it a success.
The friendship meeting will last through October 6. (VNA)
