President Triet inspects
construction
of a steel plant in Vung Ang Economic Zone.
State President Nguyen Minh
Triet has told the central province of Ha Tinh to work up
its favourable conditions for industrial development for
faster growth.
Meeting with provincial
authorities on July 4, President Triet highlighted the fact
that Ha Tinh has led the country in terms of foreign
investment attraction in the year’s first half with a single
project whose first phase costs US$7.78 billion.
Besides the giant Vung Ang Steel
Complex project, which is slated to kick off construction on
July 6, the province also houses the country’s several key
projects, such as the Vung Ang Economic Zone, the Thach Khe
iron ore mining project, the Vung Ang thermo power centre,
the Cau Treo international border economic zone and the Ngan
Truoi-Cam Trang hydroelectricity-irrigation work.
The President also urged the
coastal province to make the best use of its seafood
resources as Ha Tinh is among 11 localities in the country
with remarkable potentials in the field.
He asked the provincial leaders
to pay more attention to reducing poverty as 89% of the
province’s population is living in rural and remote areas
and GDP per capita is only half the national average.
In the first half of the year,
Ha Tinh province posted a GDP growth rate of 9.07%. It
obtained rises of 15.1% in industrial production value, 9.2%
in food output, 9.1% in aquatic product output, and 22.5% in
export earnings.
During his three-day visit,
President Triet had a working session with the provincial
judicial reform steering committee on July 3, at which he
required the province to adopt preferential treatment and
organise re-training courses for its judicial staff to
enable them to meet requirements arising from international
integration. (VNA) |
