The APEC Investment Forum 2006 (AIF)
will take place in Hanoi on November 15-16, drawing over 600
representatives from member economies of the Asia-Pacific
Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum, said an official of the
Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment on November 6.
According to Phan Huu Thang, Head
of the ministry's Foreign Investment Department, the AIF-2006
will include a plenary session where Prime Minister Nguyen Tan
Dung will make a speech, and workshops on investment promotion
between APEC economies. It will display documents and
introduce investment environment and opportunities in APEC
economies.
Thang said a workshop on Vietnam's
investment attraction will be organised by his ministry,
focusing on the country's new policies such as the Investment
Law and Enterprise Law, and other policies related to
investment and orientation for investment attraction of
Vietnam in the near future.
The forum, an annual event
organised by the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, aims to help
APEC economies exchange experiences in attracting and
efficiently using foreign investment, as well as discuss
measures to enhance economic and investment relations between
APEC member economies and between APEC and other economic
partners.
Thang stressed the forum would
help advertise APEC member economies' investment environment,
policies, potential and opportunities as well as to boost APEC
economies' investment into Vietnam.
He also said the preparation for
the forum had been completed. (VNA) |
