Two articles of great significance by Truong Chinh

On the 60th anniversary of the victory over fascism and the 60th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of 2nd September, two articles of great significance “Long Live the Victorious Soviet Union!” and “German Fascism has Breathed its Last” written by Truong Chinh, the then General Secretary of our Party, in 1942 and 1945 respectively for the Liberation Banner Newspaper, the Central Organ of the Party, are hereby introduced.

In the first article which was written in October 1942 when the fascist army, with its overwhelming power, occupied a vast area of the Soviet Union, Truong Chinh made deep analysis, pointing out the inevitable failure of the aggressive fascists,  reaffirming the sure-to-win victory of the Soviet Union. At the same time, be called upon the Vietnamese people to support the struggle of the Soviet Union, thus making contributions to the world’s advancing revolutionary movement.

The second article written in June 1945 hailing the victory over German fascism, reaffirmed that this exploit belonged to the democratic and progressive forces led by the Soviet Union and called upon our people to rise up to drive away the Japanese militarists for national independence.

Long Live the Victorious Soviet Union!

The shot from the cruiser “Aurora” at the Winter Palace, the office of the provisional government (counter-revolutionary) on the night of 7th November 1917 (or 25th October of Russian calendar) signaled to the whole world that a new era had been opened up: the era of socialism.

The October Revolution was successful. The first socialist state came into being: the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (or the Soviet Union in short).

The Soviet Union is now 25 years old. It is now taking the lead in the democratic front against aggressive fascists with determination to emancipate human society from brutal and evil fascism.

The Soviet Union is 25 now years old. For the first time in human history, a lot of nations comprising of almost 200 million people in number, can co-exist in a really equal and free manner on one sixth of the globe.

In the Soviet Union, factories have come into common possession of the workers. Arable land has been contributed by the tillers to form co-operatives where collective labour is done mechanically. All cultural establishments such as schools, libraries, museums, laboratories, institutes, etc. have become the common ownership of the society, so that all people can enjoy it.

The Soviet Union is now 25 years old. It has become an experimental school where workers and tillers are building together a new social system without exploitation of man by man, a socialist one, the first stage of communism.

The Soviet Union is the image of a new society within the old one. Socialism has been built in an ever more powerful manner in the Soviet Union, thus helping make the world revolution advance ever further, and at the same time, defeat the policy of aggression by the fascist clique. That explains why they are foaming at the mouth to curse the Soviet Union and swear together to wipe it out. For this reason, the Hitler clique, who represent the most reactionary aspect of financial capitalism are attacking the Soviet Union, the bulwark of the revolution, the outpost fortress of civilisation and progress.

But in the universe “only what is springing up and developing is really strong.”  The aggressive fascists will surely be doomed to failure because they are now trying to keep the last breath of a regime in its death-throws. The Soviet Union, the representative of the  growing power of a new society, even though partially occupied at the moment, will finally triumph. The bud of the seed is shooting. The nutshell will be broken no matter how hard it is.

This is not for the first time the Soviet Union has been attacked by the reactionary capitalists in the world.  From 1919-1921 in its early existence the Soviet Union was besieged by 14 imperialist countries who schemed to nip the socialist State in the bud. But they suffered a deeply humiliating defeat. Now they are playing the old trick again. Like before, they will be punished sooner or later by  progress.  The wheel of history keeps moving on. Whoever puts a spoke in the wheel to prevent it will be completely crushed!

The Soviet Union will triumph because the Soviet people are united and courageous to defeat the enemy with determination and sacrifice.

Under the banner of Stalin, almost 200 million Soviets have risen up as a great mountain, blocking the way of the barbarous fascists.

The Soviet Union will triumph because it is supported by the entire revolutionary movement of the world proletarian class and oppressed nations.

The Soviet Union is also joining hands with a sector of democratic bourgeoisie (British and American) against the aggressive fascists.

The Soviet Union is not fighting only for itself, but for the entire working and progressive mankind, for all nations now groaning under the iron heel of the fascist clique.

We want to state without hesitation that: part of the blood shed by the Red Army in Kiev and Stalingrad is for the Indochinese people.  We feel duty bound to support the Soviet Union in its struggle and make contributions to the advancing world revolutionary movement.

Indochinese young people must be prepared to run to the ranks of the Red Army if one day they are sent by the Japanese fascists to fight the Soviet Union.

Right now, all strata of the Indochinese people of all strata will have to celebrate the anniversary of the Russian October Revolution with the slogans:

Down with Fascism!
Long Live the Victorious Soviet Union!
