The Vietnamese government will
spare no efforts to promote multifaceted cooperation between
Vietnam and Cuba.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung
made the affirmation while receiving Cuban Foreign Minister
Felipe Perez Roque, in Hanoi, on April 13.
PM Dung expressed his pleasure at
the development of Vietnam-Cuba special relations, to which
the two foreign ministries have made effective contributions.
The PM also spoke highly of
achievements the Cuban people made in the recent past,
especially in health care and education. He said he believed
that under the leadership of President Fidel Castro, Cuba will
continue to record more fruitful achievements in all sectors.
PM Dung availed himself of the
occasion to send his best regards to President Fidel Castro,
wishing the President to get well soon.
FM Minister Roque expressed his
thanks to the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their
support and solidarity with Cuba. He also highly appreciated
the bilateral trade and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group's
involvement in exploring oil in Cuba.
On the same day, Deputy Prime
Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and the Cuban
Foreign Minister co-chaired a press briefing in Hanoi.
Minister Roque affirmed that the
two countries have the potential to develop economic
cooperation while answering correspondents' queries on
bilateral ties.
Deputy PM Khiem said Vietnam and
Cuba plans to bolster their economic and trade ties. He
elaborated that Vietnam can export aquatic products,
agricultural and light industrial products, and consumer goods
to Cuba as well as promote cooperation in oil and gas
exploration, medicine production, information technology and
