Australia eyes up Ho Chi Minh City

Education, ports, infrastructure and tourism are all on the Northern Territory of Australia's co-operation shopping list with Ho Chi Minh City , stated the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory of Australia, Clare Martin.

The Australian visitor was speaking at a meeting with the municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan, on September 18.

Both host and guest spoke highly of Vietnam and Australia 's relationship as well as co-operation between localities of the two countries.

Martin said the Northern Territory of Australia would initiate a programme to introduce opportunities to study in the region to Vietnamese students, particularly MA and Ph.D training programmes.

She expressed her hope that Ho Chi Minh City and Darwin - capital city of the state will seek effective ways to fully tap their potential, saying that investors are interested in the young and skilled labour force of Vietnam .

During her visit, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the Northern Territory of Australia and southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, opening up a new channel in commercial co-operation between the two countries. (VNA)
